Yes, I admit it. I really enjoyed this movie. Hell, you don’t even have to be a fan of Jean-Claude to confess that. JCVD introduces a fascinating and fresh ttake from this famous Belgian star. The film reinvents the ‘Muscles from Brussels,’ showing him as a desperate washed-up star seeking a comeback, all the while embroiled in a bitter legal battle for custody of his daughter. Along the way Van-Damme inadvertently walks into a bank robbery and becomes both hostage and mastermind. Look for a very personal monologue, an hour in, that clearly demonstrates JC’s solid acting chops, if not his need to be understood.
