Let the Right One In is a nearly flawless coming of age love story with all the right elements of a vampire fable. Swedish director, Tomas Alfredson, creates a darkly poetic atmosphere with surprisingly innovative results.  It has all the elements of a strong film: good storytelling, great cinematography and two wonderfully realized, awkward 12 year olds. Take time to enjoy this rare gem that is a must see.

Warning! Turn off the default dubbed version and watch only in the original Swedish with English subtitles.

Yes, I admit it. I really enjoyed this movie. Hell, you don’t even have to be a fan of Jean-Claude to confess that. JCVD introduces a fascinating and fresh ttake from this famous Belgian star. The film reinvents the ‘Muscles from Brussels,’ showing him as a desperate washed-up star seeking a comeback, all the while embroiled in a bitter legal battle for custody of his daughter. Along the way Van-Damme inadvertently walks into a bank robbery and becomes both hostage and mastermind. Look for a very personal monologue, an hour in, that clearly demonstrates JC’s solid acting chops, if not his need to be understood.
